Cellcom is a telecommunications company that provides GSM coverage in the small West African country of Liberia. Besides offering high-quality mobile calling and messaging services, the wireless provider supports broadband internet access for individual and corporate customers, marketing cost-effective tariffs that meet the needs of the network's growing subscriber base.
Cellcom was established in Liberia in November 2004, ushering in a more competitive mobile market that resulted to further reduction of usage rates for the average mobile user. The wireless network, majority of which is American-owned, established offices in Monrovia in the same year of its inception.
Five years since its inception, Cellcom has acquired a large bulk of the Liberian communications market. The wireless network is also heralded as one of the largest internet service providers in the country. Today, Cellcom's services extend beyond individuals and private companies and now also cover government offices, embassies, NGOs, and educational institutions, among many others. In Liberia, Cellcom competes with LiberCell, Lonestar Cell, and Comium in providing mobile coverage to 45% of the country's entire population.
