With its inception in 2003, Digicel Bermuda was one of the first additions to Digicel Group's growing number of mobile networks in the Caribbean, Central America, and the Pacific. In 2001, Digicel Group launched its first operation in Jamaica after the service providers successful incorporation in Bermuda. Since its initial operations, Digicel has continued to grow as one of the leading telecom providers in the Caribbean territories, including Bermuda, where Digicel Group initially launched its GSM 1900MHz network infrastructure in 2003.
Since 2006, the cellular provider engaged in rapid expansion programs by establishing more mobile coverage in the South American Mainland, Panama, Honduras, and the British Virgin Island. Digicel Group has also continued to acquire more mobile networks, the latest of which was the complete acquisition of America Movils entire operations in Jamaica. Today, Digicel serves more than 11.5 million subscribers across 32 markets.
Besides offering postpaid plans, Digicel provides prepaid mobile services without requiring contract sign-ups, connection fees, or activation fees. Such selling point has pushed Digicel's appeal to a wider consumer base across Bermuda
