Hutchison Telecom Lanka established its cellular operations in 2004 under its previous brand name, Call Link. Since then, Hutchison's coverage has expanded to cover more than 70% of the country's population.
Hutchison Lanka's parent company, Hutchison Telecommunications International Limited, is one of the leading telecommunications providers in the world, currently maintaining its GSM infrastructures in Hong Kong, Israel, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam, among many others. Also, Hutchison operates CDMA infrastructures in Indonesia and Thailand. The communications company owns the brand names Hutch, 3, and Vietnamobile.
In Sri Lanka, Hutch is one of the first mobile networks to deploy 3G networks, allowing mobile users to engage in seamless video calls and browse the internet at much faster speeds. And because Hutch primarily focuses on its prepaid platform, mobile users enjoy the network's services without the need to sign-up for annual contracts or pay for monthly bills.
